There is very little (if any) evidence to suggest the need to wait a month even after a late 1st trimester miscarriage. If you had a CP, where the only reason you knew were pregnant was because of the early HPT, I can't see any reason to need to wait. Good luck, and I hope you are pregnant again with a healthy pregnancy soon.

Hi, my husband and I are trying to conceive. I experienced what I believed to be a chemical miscarriage on our first time trying. As hard as it was for me to believe, and still -now- I was having very early pregnancy symptoms (cramps, very very sore niples, feeling discomfort...the cramps would not subside). Anyway, at what would have been the "4th" week I believe I experirenced a miscarriage. The night before the chemical I experienced the worst cramps ever, and sure enough the next morning I was bleeding heavy blood clots. The bleeding was heavy for a day and a half and then lightened up lasting for about one week. It is so weird now, it seems like I was never pregnant to begin with. It was hard for us to deal with. Anyhow, I'm still waiting for my regular period (this week would be week 4) and on my first cycle after the chemical. So my question is - is it true that it might take 6 or more weeks to get my period after the chemical? I'm usually extremely regular (maybe plus or minus one day max) so that would have been today and nothing yet. I don't "feel" pregnant like last month so I don't think its that.

It's called a chemical pregnancy as opposed to a clinical pregnancy.

A chemical pregnancy is a pregnancy that can be confirmed only by biochemical indicators - like HCG in your bloodstream.
A clinical pregnancy is a pregnancy in which there are clinical indicia of pregnancy - like a sac and fetal pole that can be visualized on ultrasound.

The term "chemical pregnancy" does not mean it was not a "real" pregnancy. It just means it was not far enough along that the pregnancy could be confirmed by the clinical indicia of pregnancy; the pregnancy ended before it got that far. I know a lot of people find the term offensive, but really the word "chemical" is not being used to describe the pregnancy itself; it's used to describe how the presence of pregnancy is detected.

Either way, it is still a loss of a pregnancy.

I guess if it makes you feel better to call it that, go ahead, I think it sounds insensitive. Sorry if this sounds sappy, but I really think the little souls should get some respect. Gas is a chemical, clorox is a chemical, h2o2 is a chemical. A baby is a baby.
i totally agree i just had chemical pregnancy so ppl keep tellin me but i was 6 weeks pregnant in my eyes i lost my baby x

Thanks!

I had CP last month as well...I got + for about a week and then I started AF as my regualr cycle, which was end of 4 week. For the next month I ovulated very late...it happened on the day of my expected period. So keep charting and wait and watch if u O ...you know what to do. Now I am 12dpo and still still have have neg on hpt....but i am still hopeful. Good luck....baby dust to me and you

It is possible that you had a "missed mc" or a "bo", and might need a d and c procedure. I had one in may.

Sorry about your chemical pregnancy. I had a chemical pregnancy via an IVF cycle and cycled the following month with ++++ results. Once your body is ready to start ovulating you should be good to go.

My first pregnancy (that I know of) was a chemical pregnancy and I got pregnant with my DS the very next cycle, even though that cycle was weird by charting standards and it wasn't even clear to me that I had ovulated.

Chemical pregnancies are common but can leave you feeling very sad. I know of several other women who got pregnant with children they carried to term right after having a chemical pregnancy, though, so I wonder if the first pregnancy can "prime" your body for a second?

Stephanie, I'm sorry. It can take a while for your cycle to regulate itself. If you know you ovulated, then you can test about 14 days after that. Otherwise, a negative hpt won't tell you anything (but a positive would!).
