For Callie -
Carlotta - I actually really like this.
Scarlet - kind of a stretch for the nickname dictators but I love the name and I think Callie works fine.
Callahan - I know a few boy Callahans I think it’s cute for a girl

I didn’t think it could get worse than Caddie. Then you suggested Callahan. For a girl.

Did you miss her suggestion of Catty? Catty, for a human, makes Callahan for a girl look like an amazing choice.

Callie could also be short for Camille or Camilla.

I like callista and calliope.

I know a lot of dogs named Callie. My dog included!! My paralegal Callie always gets mad when people tell her their dog’s name is Callie!

She was a real person not a character based on the author's grandmother:

Either name is fine. If someone struggles with the pronunciation of caddie you say as in "caddie Woodlawn" as in the newberry awarding novel.

OP here. Yes I was thinking of her as well. I believe it was Candace.

I guess it's better to name your daughter after a character in the Compson family than a character in the Bundren family, but really?!

OP here. I definitely get what you’re saying, but I think very few people are as well versed in Faulkner as you and I are. I don’t think that association is common knowledge.
