Yes, I dated two nurses before I married my wife. Both were awesome. I work in health care and nurses are extremely dedicated.

No such thing as marrying down for men, only women think in these terms. Men think in terms of whether the woman is attractive or not.

My friend is a nurse. She is very intelligent, kind and patient. Someone in a previous post said that if an urban professional married a nurse it might be considered marrying down, which I think is totally ridiculous and so pretentious to think that. My friend works 3 days a week at 12 hour shifts, but gets paid 40 hours. She’s usually very tired after her shifts from standing up. She also meets all kinda of people from all walks of life. Nursing is a profession that I think is amazing and I think anyone would be lucky to be with a nurse (assuming they are a good nurse and they love their job and to help others)

Of course! I would look down on you for not dating a nurse solely because of their profession. It’s great work and can also be fairly highly compensated (not that that should matter).

PP here. She is in anesthesia. Works 2, 24-hour shifts per week.

I also knew a cardiac nurse who made $200k. I believe she had a PhD.

My point isn't that all nurses make that salary, it's that they have the potential to. Many doctors (pediatricians, family practitioners, psychiatrists) make less than $200k so being an MD doesn't necessarily mean you have a higher salary.

Well, sure. You are citing people at the very top end of the pay scale for their profession. There are undoubtedly some teachers that make more than some nurses, but there aren't many of those positions, comparatively. Just as there aren't comparatively many positions for nurses at the payscale you cited -- if you are going into nursing, it would be a bad idea to count on that check. it wouldn't be a bad idea to plan on it goign into medicine.

There is a smokin' hot male nurse at the walk-in clinic we go to. I'm always happy when we go in on the weekend and he's in jeans and a t shirt. I'd totally date him if we weren't both married!

Actually OP stated anyone in the healthcare field besides a doctor. That include a CRNAs and NPs.
