Since she asked for your advice, yes I'd start positive, but also mention other stuff. So glad you are happy and ir sounds like he's a great person. Take your time getting to know him. Blah Blah. I personally think she is better off not marrying him (unless he is rich and doesn't want a prenup...kidding...or not...anyway). I know quite a few people who married older 10 years to 26 years older and to be brutally honest, the ones who married really financially successful guys had no regrets until they became caregivers and they accepted the role with grace. The people who married older men without the financial benefits had many regrets.

I'm right there with you, OP. My uncle got remarried recently to a younger woman, and I don't know what she sees in him. He has not aged well at all. He dresses old, he has hearing aids, neck jowls and a giant pot belly. He is only about 10 years older than her, but he looks and acts at least 20 years older. He's nice if you know him, but he can be stubborn, close-minded, and sexist. In contrast, his wife is slender and stylish and has taken care of her appearance. Her previous husband died, and I know she was getting his pension, so she didn't need to marry for money (my uncle doesn't have much anyway). It seems like she really lost in this scenario, as she'll be the one left taking care of my uncle when he kicks the bucket, and then aging poorer and alone. If I were in her shoes I would not get married again.

Well, you'll never know because, as I said, guys who don't want to date women their own age are douchebag losers. I would never date a guy who says in his online profile that he only wants to date women younger than him. I mean, WTF, is something terrible going to happen if you date a women one year older than you? Most guys are not aging very well as it is, so its not as if you have a whole to offer, physically.

LOL they want to but most can't. Aside from the very rich and famous, women in their 20s and 30s are not interested in a 66 year old man. Women in their 20s and 30s can have sex anytime they want to, and if they want to settle down, they are looking for men they can have kids with (at least most are).


Agreed. And if woman in her 20's or 30's were interested in a man in his 60's (unless he were rich and famous), I would wonder about the judgment and situation of the woman herself. She may not have much self-confidence and that may be a red flag to the man.

My dad was around that age when he married my stepmom who was around your SIL’s age. Fast forward 20 years or so and dad has years of health problems. Stepmom starts worrying he may end up in nursing home and she could be on the hook. They didn’t plan well and it’s a whole other thread (which we don’t need to go into). So I’d advise not to marry or do lots of planning before hand.
