Gluten, dairy, and processed junk.

This forces you to eat pretty well.

Alcohol is easy to give up. Too expensive anyways.

I am a candy-holic but when i started to cut my treats in half I did lose a pound or 2 within a couple of weeks. So yes sugar is my downfall.

I also cut my bread intake in half. Little steps add up.

Agree on alcohol. Although I think a lot of beer might be a problem. Wine not so much.

I think those that lose weight not drinking we’re snacking while drinking.

same here. oatmeal had never filled me up. Not as a kid, not now. I will eat a huge bowl of oatmeal with nuts/seeds/fruit and I feel like i have eaten nothing. For me it is more a treat than meal. If i use it as a meal i will only eat a 2nd meal 30 minutes later. So i just use it as a snack or dessert -- a treat.

Most people do not drink enough alcohol for it to make that much of a difference. I genuinely do not understand why this is offered up so often. Some of the heaviest people I know are non-drinkers.

I was a daily drinker before becoming sober seven months ago. My appearance has improved, but my weight has not budged.


Some of my thinnest friends are heavy drinkers. I think they drink in lieu of eating. So I guess that's a +3.

True, but I rarely see adults drinking juice, even at breakfast.


Where do you see adults eating breakfast? At hotels, I see adults drinking juice. At work, people are on the go and drink even worse drinks for breakfast, e.g., soda.

Nope, made no difference to me. I drank regular coke and then coke zero like nuts. No difference in weight, but better feeling overall.

Did anyone really find giving up diet soda makes a difference? That’s the one thing I really don’t want to do. I’m down 30 (over past couple years) and have about 12 more to go. I’m already off dairy, sweets, and bread, and I don’t drink alcohol. But I love my coke zero!

No snacks. At all.
No starchy carbs (bread, pasta, most processed foods).
I lost 10 pounds in less than a month and have kept it off for several months. I don’t miss the carbs. I feel better than ever - no more bloated belly, puffy face, gas, etc
FWIW I am 47.
