This view is not uncommon in the area. There is data to support that the DMV is one of if not the wealthiest areas of the country. Moreover, the DMV is highly educated (if one thinks that the liberal arts degrees are just as challenging as engineering degrees).
There is one strange thing, however. What is it that the DMV produces to account for its great wealth? On further examination it is clear that most of the wealth in this area can be attributed to the fact that the Federal Government is based here. The Federal Government consumes and redistributes wealth, it does not produce wealth. Most of us living here are being subsidized somehow by those in other parts of America, or increasingly, by those outside America who want us to maintain rules and regulations that undercut Americans (e.g., unfair trade that give us low cost labor and goods at the expense of the “dopes” in flyover country).
For the good of us all here in the DMV let’s hope the rest of the country doesn’t catch on.
