OP, you cannot stop him from going. You can file in court for the child support issue once he is in arrears. Sell the house and cut back knowing he isn't going to provide.

To clarify, ex liked babies but didn't like the children after the age of 6 when they had real opinions of the world around them and didn't always do as they were told. He wasn't trapped and was thrilled to be a dad. I wasn't thrilled to be a mom, the birth control I was on was later recalled because it wasn't as effective as they thought. I cried for months. However, I adored DC1 and agreed to have DC2.

Ex is not here on a Visa, is a US citizen. His world was rocked several years ago when a scandal broke at his place of employment and he became collateral damage. He was unemployed and depressed for a long time.
Ex told DC1 the country he is going to and the type of place he will be staying in. So I have it narrowed down to less than 150 possibilities. He will see the children before he goes and will get me a notarized statement saying I have full legal custody while he is out of the country. It is a start.

I am surviving without child support and have been for the last 2 years. I don't earn much but I can almost make ends meet. Few extras for us all but we have what we need. Child support would mean 2 pairs of shoes instead of one.

It’s a common tactic by some ‘men’ to quit their job during divorce proceedings so that they don’t have to pay more than the minimum child support. You can take them back to court after he gets another job but that costs money and he could quit his job again.
