However this ends (and I also would be dismayed by an Elrich win) . . . I think primary election rules should change.

It's ridiculous not to have a run off in this situation. Top 2 or 3 vote getters. The ballot this year was simply overwhelming.

Also, for the races where you vote for more than 1 and there were umpteen candidates, I think it should either be ranked voting, or also a run off for top 6/8.

Nope. Robin Ficker is crazy town and does not deserve any votes.

Oh no. I’m a Krasnow voter and would never vote for a candidate trying to buy a seat.

He'll pick up most of Leventhal voters and some from the other candidates, but I think most of those who voted for Krasnow, Frick, or Berliner would vote for Blair over Elrich. Plus, with Robin Ficker as the Republican candidate, I think you'd get a lot of Republicans voting for Blair as well, in an effort to avoid Elrich.

Does anyone know the rules about a primary candidate running as an independent or write-in in the general election? Are they any? And anyone have any guesses on whether Blair would pursue that or just let it go?

I can't believe the spread is less than 500 votes.

Something similar happened in 1990 when Neal Potter upset Sidney Kramer in the D primary for County Executive.

Greater Greater Washington, the funded mouthpiece of Big Development, Inc., opposed Elrich. That was good enough for me to vote for him.

+1 Any insight on what group tends to vote absentee the most?

jUst anyone going on vacation. Lot's of families are on summer vaca.
The provisional ballots that they are counting are also from the thousands of people (ex. people who moved, etc.) who were affected by the glitch in the system that was reported.
