Is PVI telling their varsity players not to play club? That could hurt VLC and also PVI as they have had a symbiotic relationship.

How much is VLC per season and what do you get for the money in terms of general number of practices and games? According to the website the Summer season is $1000 to $1600, which seems to be the same as other clubs, is that old information? Or is that all you pay for the entire year?

We just joined and it is $2295 for everything from now until the end of next summer. Hell of a lot cheaper than Madlax. That page looks outdated.

Speaking of PVI, I've heard that they are now instituting a year-round team program such that many of their players will play for the PVI-affiliated team, and not a traditional travel team. Has anyone heard the same? If so, VLC may take a bit of a hit with defections.

There are always openings. If you're son shows well at tryouts, I'm sure he'd get a spot...


I agree with the above comment. While the poles are considered to be the strongest position group on VLC 2021, it's unclear whether every pole is returning. Won't know until August, I suppose.


Are there any offensive players not expected to return for 2021? Would my kid hav a better chance playing mid or attack at tryouts?


I am not sure. The attack/middies are a mixed bag. If your son can play defense as an offensive player, he will have an advantage. Finding versatile kids who are not afraid to mix it up while guarding opposing players seems to be difficult.

It’ll be interesting to see if they have enough interest to form teams for the younger elementary school grades they are having tryouts for and if so, how competitive the teams will be. How good did the kids look?

With 3 lacrosse playing sons, I’ve had kids at Madlax, BW, Crabs, and VLC. Most sane dads and moms are attached to VLC, hands down.

Best organized club out there. Social media savvy. But their website run by the Crabs is almost as confusing as the Madlax one.

Be wary. These are all “real” tryouts. No Daddy Ball here. Making the team one year is no guarantee your kid will make it again the following year.

Our DS is older and on VLC and I would say yes, it is how they run practices. DS likes that he is constantly learning new things.
