FWIW the scene between Vik and Helen in the car was so well written. The guilt he feels for the sacrifices his parents made for him are very common for Indian families.

Then why did he mention his father being a doctor in Beirut? is there an Indian population in Lebanon?

Vikram is an Indian name. His mother talks dresses and acts like an Indian mother. Overbearing, no boundaries, stocking his fridge with Indian dishes, passive aggressively treating his middle aged white girlfriend badly as she thinks her son can do so much better.

His family is Indian. I'm assuming they lived in Lebanon, doesn't mean their ethnicity or heritage is Lebanese.

It is confusing. The actor playing Vik has an Egyptian dad. The actress playing his mother is Indian. Vikram is an Indian name. But they talk about immigrating from Beirut. Maybe he is half middle eastern and half indian?

It seems like the producers messed up. Do Lebanese women wear Bindis?

Spoiler alert************

Vik has pancreatic cancer and he is refusing treatment. He is dying, but still wants a baby.

I don't like these characters. Seriously.m

She's not going to have a baby. That would be absurd. She basically admitted to the therapist she doesn't love him. Why does he even want a baby that he won't get to know and Helen will have to raise, probably with some other schmuck that she somehow seduces?

I think he wants her to have the baby so his parents have something left of him when he dies. Sounds like he is an only child and he cares a lot about his parents.

Meh. That is so not a good enough reason to ask your 50-something girlfriend, who has no relationship with your parents by the way and no connection to California, to bear a 5th child who she will raise as a single parent. Also find it odd that this is the first Helen is hearing of his all-eclipsing appreciation/love/guilt for his parents. His "it was all for nothing" statement struck me as sort of a childish way of viewing the sacrifice his parents made for him to become successful. What about all those years of helping patients? Why did he never bother having a kid to this point, if the Ullah legacy was so important? It's not like he or his parents were going to live forever. I get he's still processing the news and is emotional but..it just feels wrong. Then again, I've never quite understood his love for Helen, so.

No you didn’t.

DP. I did too. With irregular season starts andong periods between them
These days (e.g. Game of thrones), I forget about shows. After awhile I just assume they're dead.

I want the writers to cut the Helen storyline. She adds no value and last night just solidified it.

Helen's husband the doctor, Vik, is Egyptian not Indian.

I dated an Egyptian doctor.

He was Catholic. Egyptians can be Catholic.

Maybe Vik always wanted a big family. At his age he has an instant family of 4 kids with Helen. I thought she was glowing according to the neighbor, and she could be pregnant. Then Vik collapsed in the bathroom.

Corrected the typos.

From IMDB about the actor who plays Dr. VIK Ullah, Helen's husband:

Omar Metwally was born in Queens, New York in 1975 to an Egyptian father and a Dutch mother.
