Just think about how the world has changed since your parents were of your current age to the present time. The rate of change going forward will be exponential due to technological advances and increased globalization. If you want to bring up your children to give them the best skills to succeed in their lives, have them love and pursue with passion acquiring knowledge, developing skills and self-learning. Bashing Asians may sooth your anxieties but it will only be temporary.
Asians don't have the best skills. They simply have a cultural norm of slavish studying.
The people who really succeed in this world aren't the ones with the best test scores. Instead they are the creative thinkers. .

If Harvard doesn't have a history of welcoming Asian students, it makes more sense to replace it with schools that do.
That said, I am inclined to believe there are great many SLACs that have relatively low Asian acceptances - less to do with discrimination - more to do with the fact that Asians are enamored of Harvard and Ivy League. These are the schools that Asians should be focused if they want to increase their chances at top schools. These schools are just as good, if not better, than Harvard and other Ivy League schools.
In what universe is 22% of enrollees "not welcoming?"
If you did 22% in stocks this year - and S&P cruised to 45% - you lost.
That doesn't answer the question. Perhaps that's why you (or your kid) is having a difficult time with admissions?
?????
We had to be strategic when coming up with 10 common app schools when my D applied last year. We limited to 2 Ivy Leagues and focused the balance on top SLACs. As anticipated, she met with greater success with SLACs, including with additional scholarships. Several SLACs became cheaper than state schools. There are schools that welcome Asian students - and even will invest in students' education.

What if the schools want some kids who know where commas go?
The tests don't really evaluate that these days. What do colleges do about important areas of academic knowledge not in the tests?

Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Should Asian Americans create a campaign to boycott test optional schools and Universities where Asian enrollment had not budged beyond 22% for almost a decade as Asian applications have steadily increased to protest against racial balancing in holistic admissions?
Or at least boycott schools that don't release race specific admission data on # of applications, # of admits, mean scores of applicants, mean score of admitted etc.
Unless there is a movement, nothing will change. Look at the gay rights movement
Game theory. Even if 100% Asians agreed to a boycott, 99.9% of them would then secretly apply. If rejected, they can claim they adhered to the boycott. If accepted, they'd say oh well, my kid's going to HYPS!
