I get that many parent don't like it but why would you throw out something that can be safely reused. At our school the teacher was always happy to take them back and had them available for kids who could not afford them or forgot theirs.
I totally agree. Can’t understand why you would throw something like this out if it is still usable. The thing can be washed and true all kids chew on them a little so there are these teethmarks. But honestly it irks the adults more than the kids. They don’t seem to mind and my girls have forgotten theirs and used the chewed up ones at school before. They didn’t get sick either. Also, it’s no different from using those plastic ikea utensils at your friends house? They are put into the mouth too, washed and reused. The kids chew on those too!
Throwing it away or burning it is just unkind to the environment. Many kids also can’t afford to get new ones and while it’s a small sum
To some and it’s only $10, it still helps a family in need and every $ counts.
I am all for washing it and giving it back to the school. My school gladly took ours back. Teethmarks, tatty cloth case and all. The teacher said it didn’t matter at all.
