Think of the poor dads, if applicable, who have the work of a birthday party for their kid on Father’s Day!

Lol at typical DCUM hypocrisy. There waw a poster asking if a party on Father's day would be ok and most of the responses said they wouldn't have gone.

People do this on Mother's Day too. We RSVP no. We have family plans (a movie, nice lunch, Dave and Busters) that DD would rather do than a party anyways.

Not my husband. He's not into the "Hallmark" aspect, but he wants to spend the day with the kids and likes events planned. We work all week and enjoy seeing them on weekends.

My second kid was conceived on FD because her older sibling accompanied another family on a four hour hike.

I think it's okay to let them attend unless you have a brunch or lunch planned. We take DH to a really good restaurant every year for lunch, so this would interfere with our plans, but in the absence of such plans it should be fine.

Ask your DH. It's up to him.

If the parties were at the same time my DH would give me a wink, raise an eyebrow and I know he'd be thinking of "afternoon delight". Fine by me!

I'm a Dad. I'll enjoy celebrating Father's Day whenever it happens.

This year, I was offered a side job on Father's Day. Since we are about to purchase a second piece of real estate (and put down a lot of money), I talked with my wife. She hadn't made plans yet, so I took the job. I figured we'd celebrate on Saturday. Then the person who was working Saturday had to schedule an unexpected medical procedure on Friday and wasn't sure he'd be up to working Saturday, so they asked me to fill in. I figure we'll go out Friday or Monday for dinner as a family. My kids will still make me gifts and cards and they'll give them to me whenever we celebrate Father's Day.

Each father is different, but the vast majority of them will not care when you celebrate. And having alone time to do something he wants to do without the kids and then celebrating either Saturday or Monday will be fine for most dads.

In my family the entire day of mother's day or father's day is not blocked off. A birthday party is 2 hours usually. There is the whole rest of the day.

So a birthday invitation would be fine for my kids.

Some people are way more into the made up holidays than others. And make no mistake, that's what it is. An invented holiday to get you to spend money. You can do family activities on any other day of the year and be nice to your mom or dad. Just recognize that not everyone handles it the same way OP.

It would depend on our plans. If we had plans, I would say no. If we didn't have exact plans yet - I would ask my husband what he wants. If he wants to do something then, I would decline the parties. If he wanted free time then, I would say yes to the parties.
