My murderous killing-machine cat has killed two baby bunnies in the past couple of days. And eaten them up. So gross, and so sad, but if we keep him inside at night he pees all over the place and bullies our other cat unmercifully. So it's let him out at night or get rid of him.

At least there are a lot of bunnies in the world but it still makes me sad.

My dog has gotten chipmunks, squirrels and even a few mice in our house (gross I know, but it happened). Such instincts - it’s what they do. She doesn’t eat them - just breaks their neck and grooms them like a prize. Such a vile beast. Hasn’t happened in awhile but when she was you she was quite the hunter (border mix rescue).

We had a baby bunny nest in our lawn a couple years ago. Dog never bothered it. I called animal control to ask about how to handle it and they said that baby bunnies that are still in the nest have no scent so the dog should not notice them. The mother rabbit only visits briefly to nurse and then stays away to limit her scent in the area. Once the babies outgrew the nest they relocated under our shed with the mother where they were safe from the dog.
