This is the only reason we haven't been to the Cancun/Riviera side of Mexico in the last few years. They have a huge problem with sargassum - looks like seaweed, stinks and has bugs in it. It clears up at times but it's unpredictable when it returns from the flow of the ocean. https://www.locogringo.com/akumal-beach-webcam/
We go to Mexico and enjoy it. Just lately we've been to Huatulco, Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta. Cabo is nice too - more Americanized and expensive. I research on tripadvisor before we go - read the forum as well as reviews. Grand Oasis is a budget all inclusive.

This. You've got to be kidding me PP.
What is the obsession with trashing Mexico on this Board. It comes up over and over.
Sorry, meant PP.
I think it's some angry people from the politics forum, trying to make a point. Since this thread comes up weekly now.
So Mexico is either a beautiful, safe country full of warm lovely people, or its a dangerous, filled with murderous gangs, and every Mexican citizen that shows up at our border is deserving of asylum. You can't have it both ways.

NP. How does one discern the nice resorts from the places where your room gets robbed by the staff?
A place where a room is under $250 a night and the food/booze is included in the rate? I would immediately sniff that out as not that nice. I certainly don't think anyone deserves to have their room robbed by staff. Wherever they stay at whatever price point. Separate issue.

Anonymous wrote:We loved it over Spring Break and go back each year to our favorite upscale, child-friendly resort there. Lovely culture and delicious food. We went to Tulum for a day too --- most amazing food there and love the ambiance. We have travelled all over the Caribbean and there is just something special about Mexico that we personally love.
