We could start a forum for the moms who need to talk over their troubles if they don't have anyone else to talk to.

amen to above -- it seems these mean moms need a more appropriate outlet for their meanness and anger than sitting at home getting more angry in front of their computers

Agree, pp. Often, it is very hard for women to stay at home, especially if they are no longer the skills they learned. I really encourage them to find a productive path and channel their energy into something they will enjoy instead of taking out their lack of direction on these threads. Anger and frustration is not helping your families, either.

Agree above. Some of these moms sound really mean. If they're getting their anger out on annonymous posts -- maybe they should take steps to talk to someone in person that might help them with the anger or meanness. I'm a 'live and let live" kind of person. If I can help someone - I do; if not - I don't stand in their way.

Sadly, the nasty posts can only be from mean moms. Look at the time stamps - their kids are in school being productive. I just hope you aren't the same parents complaining about how mean girls are to your daughters at school........

to above poster -- it could have been written by a parent whose kid got into Stone Ridge but not Holton. I know I was upset when my child didn't get in ANYWHERE on the first round -- but then ended up getting in places off the wait list. I didn't like the schools that rejected her either because I thought she was perfect; but then again -- everyone else thinks their child is perfect too. In the end, it worked out well for us and I won't say where she ended up for fear someone will flame me.

You know you have a point. Since this is an anonymous forum it is entirely possible that the awful "We at Holton" post was written by a middle schooler there. Given the tone of it that actually makes some sense. In fact that might explain the sudden boom of Holton vs NCS posts.

I agree that post does have the tone of a middle schooler. However, the "Holton girls are competitive, but Stone Ridge girls are nice" post give the impression that it was written by an ass.

The answer to the original question is that it is so hard to get into many of the DC privates....you might want to wait to see where your boy/girl is accepted before deciding which one you 'must have'.

Agree people could be nicer. I just didn't think that some of the people writing necessarily had evil motives. Unless someone is trained in dealing with mental health issues, it's hard to know how to act sometimes when someone else's child is suffering. One doesn't want to be intrusive on one hand, but one doesn't want something bad to happen to the child either.

Agree with 14:19 about how mean moms might equal mean girls. Just a sad state of affairs when the mentality remains adolescent despite being a grown-up and parent.

Despite the attempt to possibly help some of the girls mentioned, there was just too much mud-slinging and vitriol in this thread. Anonymous posts shouldn't give anyone the right to act badly. It would be nice to see the standards of behavior we would like to see.

No wonder recent studies show that Americans feel 9 out of every 10 people are uncivil. It would be nice if we could walk the walk. I'm assuming we are losing some great voices out there who are turned off by this nasty behavior.

Regarding some of the posts here -- the schools really need to have some access to mental health services because sometimes the parents don't want to admit there is a problem. I wouldn't assume the people writing meant to be mean. It seemed they were trying to help someone.

Whoever wrote that sometime the moms are acting like their kids -- how do you think some of the kids got the way they are? The apple doesn't fall far from the tree sometime. Still, I wouldn't always assume nefarious motives as some of these respondents seem to do.
