We pay $1500/week for 60 hours. Although she usually works a little less as we let her go early, she works hard! We have two young kids in 'school' most of the day and 1 baby she stays with all day. She generally keeps the household running, doing most of the shopping, cooking dinner four nights a week, etc. Expensive now, even at our income, with kids in private schools but once they are in kindergarten they will go public and things will get better.

Disagree. We pay $4600/month for two in daycare. We considered a nanny when the second was born but decided to stick with our center. Obviously the decision was about more than just the cost.

first PP here. Yes, she watches both kids (or, she will, starting in a couple of months). But, the older one is turning 3, is currently in full-day daycare and will be switching to attend a neighborhood pre-school (9-2:30pm) starting in September. The cost to put both in that daycare center roughly equaled the nanny's annual salary. Then there's the addition of pre-school tuition, BUT a subtraction b/c we're getting rid of one of our cars + parking at a downtown office, so it's more or less a wash, cost-wise. And the logistics are so, so much easier for us.

We pay $1300 per week for 52 hours

We had one. She only worked 38-40 hrs. $18/hr, so $720/wk. I think at the time our HHI was in the high 300s. She also took them to PT preschool which we paid her for as well since she did drop offs a pick ups. The preschool ran us an extra $500/mo per kid.

$600k HHI, we pay our nanny nearly $1200/week for 3 kids and 52 hours/week. We pay on the books, so pay taxes as well. All in, it's about $65k per year. We also pay for preschool for each child starting at age 3 until kindergarten starts.

DH complains constantly that we pay more than anyone he knows for a nanny, but we need a lot of OT because we both work FT and commute, and among our friends who I've polled who have similar situations, we're not out of step.

We had one at about $200K. We paid her about $50K on the books + $200/mo for health insurance. I used to joke that it was cheaper than getting divorced. We had twins though so two kids in daycare would have been close to that much.

We used to pay our nanny $550 for 40 hours. Did not pay taxes.

We now pay our PT nanny $600 for 30 hours.

That is a servant, not a nanny. You barely pay her. 160 regular hours + 40 overtime hours = $9/hr for 3 kids.
