Well, there was always a 50% chance that you'd have a girl....

I needed IUI to get pregnant with my first. Did the IUI the day of ovulation (you do bloodwork and then trigger ovulation). Had a boy. With my second I got pregnant on my own. DH and I had sex and then he left for a business trip. I O'd three days after he left. That one is a girl. So there might be some truth to ovulation timing and sex.

So, if you want to increase your chances of a girl...have sex 4 days before you ovulate. I knew my third was a girl because i was charting to get pregnant and bummed that my husband was going out of town on business trip over ovulation. He left 4 days before. As soon as I got pregnant - I knew it was a girl. Worked for my SIL too. Defintely not fool proof but can't tilt the odds.

Also, a slightly higher number of babies conceived via ICSI during IVF are female because again - slower girl sperm are easier to catch

This follows loosely the Shettles theory. Gives roughy same ideas on when to time sex for boy/girl,diet, optima sex positions, etc.

We had sex saturday & sunday. My ovulation test today gave me a smiley face. Should we not have sex today since sat/sun were in the 2-4 days before ovulation and that's the old wives tale?

Did anyone have a girl with an ovulation test? If so, when did you have sex?

Thanks. I'm sure its silly and we get what we get and dont get upset!

Something tells me you will get upset.

It was four years ago, so she's probably over it now if she was.

Must be my neighbor who had 2 boys and has had 2 more since and still not satisfied.

Is Shettles this? ~ sperm producing males are faster but don't live as long. Therefore, exact timing when the egg is available to be fertilized results in male offspring. If the sperm needs to wait around for the right timing, this results in female offspring. I do believe it.

The more you boys you have the likelier you will have another boy.

Have sex before ovulation and cross your fingers! The rest is just mostly up to luck.

This worked for us. 1st is a girl; followed Shettles, used only missionary, etc. 2nd is a boy; exclusively doggy style and timing.

Seemingly disappointed with your other 2 children.

This is a good book for learning how to conceive in general. There's also the theory that perceived sperm competition can actually increase your overall sperm count.
