The crap that gets said here about people who claim to be parents from our school is hurtful and does not reflect our community values. The number of people who commit themselves tirelessly to the school who were in tears last night is heartbreaking. You are not helping the situation by coming anonymously on the internet and spewing hatred to anyone from our community (transfers and key zone alike).
The last thing we need is for people to stop volunteering at the pta because they feel like it does not represent their best interests. Say what you want about the pta, but do you anonymous internet person want to organize the art show? Do you want to organize field day or the kindergarten playdates or the ice cream social? How about the 5k? I've been a room mom for five years, and I can attest that if people like me get so turned off that I stop helping, you can bet your buttons that your kid won't have parties or halloween parades or anything that makes the school into a community.
So stop it. Act like an adult and voice your hatred in person, or if you aren't going to, then keep it to yourself.

OMG. Your precious snowflake will survive going to Key if it becomes a neighborhood school.

You must be from Cherry Dale, bless your heart. ASFS ain’t all you think it is hon. [/quote
Wrong. Never interested in asfs but if means you have to move back to your neighborhood at key, it seems really attractive now.

With kid evening commitments and one of us with a late work schedule, we can never make it to the meetings.
Sorry, can't do it, First Rule of Fight Club!
Perhaps the PTA could send a summary. Not everyone has means to attend the meetings.
ASF is a mix of Key zone kids, with some kids from Taylor (ASF neighborhood) and Jamestown districts. The unspoken and danced around issue at the meetings was the false belief that whomever is elected to the new PTA positions will be able to tell the School Board whether the teachers and staff at ASF will stay at the ASF building, or will teacher and staff and science-y things be transferred to the Key building, along with the Key zoned students. The community is still coming to terms with the recent staff guidance and trying to determine how to proceed.
Science-y things? In terms of proceeding, what is there to debate, actually? Enjoy the Key building and it’s superior playground and field.
