I agree, but if the OP is attractive, young-ish (under 45), and has any kind of background in food service/hospitality, he's exactly the kind of guy these places would want working for them.

I have a Master's degree and I net just over $2K per month. I am in my 5th year of teaching.

No, he did NOT say why he needed the money. To pay the lawyer? To pay for a second place to live? I feel that if we knew what OP's budget was and what his new expenses were, we could perhaps advise him better: as in, save more money, move somewhere cheaper, etc, instead of running around doing gigs that might not be his cup of tea.
