I’m surprised by this too. I am pp that had GD and delivered at Sibley with Foxhall. Baby had low blood sugar and I said give all the formula!! Sadly it didn’t work and DC had to be in the special care nursery for almost 1.5 days.

NP - my DS has low blood sugar - I nursed him and he was monitored (which would happen with formula anyways) until he had three tests above the cutoff. There was no mention of using formula unless he didn’t stabilize within 24 hours. If it dropped drastically I’m sure more intervention would have been discussed. A lot depends on the individual doctor on duty and hospital protocols.

I would imagine OP would at least want to make sure whoever does the delivery will take her insurance...I wouldn’t just show up.

This sounds so strange. I go to a solo practicioner in dc & had a GD baby this winter at Sibley. Never once was transferring this pregnancy brought up. An earlier pregnancy had to be delivered at Georgetown bc I needed an emergency c-section at 31 weeks but even then I was never dropped, the OB stayed involved in my care.

That's really weird. Maybe his insurance lapsed or recently had a traumatic delivery or something.

Your solo practitioner doesn’t have privileges outside of Sibley? Mine (Dr. Brendan Burje) delivers at Georgetown for high risk pregnancies, and at Sibley otherwise.

OP here. Ob officially dropped me and is sending me to find a doctor through my MFM who's recommending a doctor that delivers at Shady Grove. I really don't want to go there....was there a particular doctor you liked at Foxhall? Thanks!

loved Dr. Green. Dr. Abraham is also wonderful. I really actually liked them all...even Dr. Lightfoote, my least favorite, is smart and I would have been comfortable with her delivering my kids. Good luck! Your OB is so shitty to do this to you.

This is unfortunate OP, but better be dropped now than have an OB who for whatever reason does not feel equipped to deliver you safely. I'd just go with whatever practice/dr your OB or MFM can transfer you to quickly.

You're considered high risk. You should be transferred to an MFM to monitor and deliver your baby. That is actually what should have happened through your OB once they can no longer handle your case. Talk to your MFM about it.

Op here. Sorry if I forgot to mention, but I do have a MFM, they just don't deliver.
