For those like OP who live under the rock. And it is not MoCo that is the richest county in MD either. According to Forbes it is Howard county. VA has the richest county in the US, Loundon, and this is a known fact to all in DMV, apart from OP.

I always told my daughter that there are never "rich kids" at school, just rich parents. That being said, and while I am not rich, I am certainly in the top 5 percent or so HHI nationally and also have the connections to assist my daughter in her career aspirations. So, yes, parents have a lot to do with how well you do in school, what college you go to and eventually, how successful you may be in your career.

Central and Southern Virginia are much larger than Baltimore and they bring VA down big time. A relative lives in Norfolk and there is a lot of poverty there.
