Subject: Where do you like to stay in Santa Barbara?
Native SB here (another one! I guess we all got to DC at some point in our lives and found DCUM). Wonder if we know each other? Bishop HS class of 83
Anyways just want to say that I'm a big Bacara fan, but I do come down on the side that it's too far/remote if you want to really see the town, especially with kids as it's a drive. The other thing about Bacara is it's so great, you might just not leave there...and it really IS worth it to explore the town, SB is beautiful and has a lot to offer.
If it were me in OP's shoes, I'd do the Fess Parker on Cabrillo St., or something on Cabrillo.

Lots of options listed here. You can try multiple wineries' options at Santa Barbara Wine Collective. I like Babcock (served there) and also Santa Barbara Winery (has its own tasting room; wines for sale by the bottle at local grocers for much less than at the tasting room!).
