Hon, the "cool active people club" is ready to welcome you with open arms whenever you're ready. You don't have to be skinny, or rich, or or have the most fashionable clothes or car - you just have to show up and try.
Look, here comes one now.

Are you bothered because other people exercising puts a spotlight (in your head) to what you should be doing, and you feel insecure about it?
I already exercise and I'm not bothered at all. I made an observation.
Sounds like you could stand to kick it up a notch. You're still miserable and could use the extra endorphins.
+1000!
Agreed.
My DH is one of those people that likes to post when he works out. And yea, he was and still is fat so he fits right in to nasty PPs categorization.
What nasty PP doesn't seem to understand is that DH is working really hard to lose the weight and regain some of his health and he is proud of the work he's putting in. Do you have any idea how hard it is to take yourself into the gym and put in a workout when you're morbidly obese? Do you have any understanding of the fear of judgement (from jack@sses like PP) he feels? He knows people are looking at him, judging him, people have even taken photos of him working out. Hahaha look at the fat sweaty guy! What a LOOOOOOOOSER! But he still goes.
And if jerks at the gym get to take photos of him for the purposes of mocking him then he sure as hell is allowed to take a photo of himself and share it with his friends to celebrate what he's doing. Don't like it? Please unfriend him ASAP because you're no friend at all.

At least the people posting about workouts and runs are posting something authentic, as in not a lie.
I can't tell you how many people posts endless photos of their supposedly picture-perfect families, but the reality is very different.
All social media is a kind of narcissism. It's far worse, IMO, when posts aren't just narcissistic but also not based in reality.
I'm cool if you want to post that you ran 10 miles and you actually did run 10 miles. I'm agitated if you post a doctored photo of your family with an epic "love letter" to your spouse who, in reality, you can't stand.
it's not worse but are these only options? why do it all? why do so many people share so much?
Why do you care so much?
