I think you need a really good lottery number to get in. Since you can't count on being so lucky, "safety" options for the lottery within a reasonable commute from WOTP include Appletree Columbia Heights, Truesdell, Dorothy Height, Meridian, as well as Bethune 16th St (outside common lottery).

I don't believe Powell has let in any no-preference ECE students (i.e., out-of-boundary, no sibling) for a couple years.

I would suggest considering SWWFS (Francis Stevens). It is just barely EOTP (it sits on the edge of Rock Creek in the West End). It's an old building but great program especially ECE, if you can get in. It has PreK3 onward to 8th grade.

What? This is a very weird thing to say -- Hearst's in-boundary percentage is 48%, Eaton's is similar... that is 162 out of boundary students.

The preschool grades are all inbounds students.

No PK3 at Hearst. PK-1 is all IB. 2nd is like 65-70 percent. Upper grades more mixed. Please remember that Hearst has three autism-only (CES) classes and those classes serve kids from all over the city and count towards OOB number. As each class graduates, a new one arrives, all IB.

I think the first PP meant people from WOTP getting into West or Powell. I'm not sure that it's true that West has no OOB spots, but it might be true for Powell.

West filled last year with IB for PK3. I’m not sure about this year, but the baby boom is real.
