Hey OP, basically universal condemnation from DCUM. Take a look in the mirror. Get out of your helicopter.

Oh the kid is 4? Less of a big deal. Although still kind of a crappy thing to do to the 13 year old.

Sounds like this is a good chance for your husband's children to get to know each other a little better!

have to agree with the PPs. A sick 4 year old is better off with his big sister for a couple of hours than being dragged around on errands. you are in the wrong here.

You married a man with a child from another woman. That's your DS's sister, and she is as much a part of this family as your DS is, regardless of how much time she's spent in that house. Do not make your husband choose you and DS over his DD, that is completely unfair. (Yes, I'm totally projecting and speculating here, but the tone of your posts make it very hard not to!)

You are a horrible person and I feel so sorry for all the crap that poor girl is going to have to endure.

1) A four year old is not a toddler

2) If your son is sick then all he's doing is lying around anyway

3) She is 13. I babysat my brothers starting at like age 9

4) How is your DH's 13 year old daughter 'not used to' her 4 year old brother????

5) You sound awful

I feel for your husband. Life is fine but you find something to complain about.

You are being nuts. All of it. The "toddler". Not being able to babysit. All of it.

You are way overreacting.

A 4 year old is not a toddler. And a 13 year old is legally old enough to babysit. Whether or not either one is sick or injured is besides the point, though I would not expect a truly ill teen to babysit, even her brother.

In what world is a FOUR year old a “toddler”?

It makes more sense to me than dragging the sick kid around in the car. As a first run at babysitting, he would have only gone to get your other child and not done other errands, but presumably your SD could have called dad and asked him to come home sooner if there was any issue?

I don’t understand why you have never discussed the 13yo babysitting the younger kids. Like lots of teenagers, I started babysitting at 13. OP, at what age would you feel comfortable leaving them alone together?
