The handful of my acquaintances who have served as military officers are all somewhat misogynistic and have anger management issues.

Kumon does not have that class.

It is exactly this mentality that creates a separate warrior caste, unhealthy for our nation. If everyone had to serve, we might see different attitudes and certainly different foreign policies. And by the way, the military is but one mechanism by which our country enacts foreign policy, so one should not differentiate between the State Department, USAID or the military - they each have to follow orders from the executive branch.

Anonymous wrote:Agree, this is a liberal/democratic area (for the most part, there are of course exceptions). That subgroup of the population, especially if they are upper middle class or rich, do not typically consider military service for their children.
And that includes even elite preparation for military service. In the end, they know it leads to wearing a uniform, having limited control over where you live and what you do, and the possibility of being killed or maimed on the job. I am not saying that such service is not honorable, I am just being realistic in answering your question.

Only a small portion see that kind of combat. You clearly don't know much.
But isn't that why you go to service academies? To serve in combat if called upon? I hope you are not saying, after 4 years of paid education, your dc would never see a real combat.
