Say another shooting happens and before the teacher can get to their weapon, 5 kids are shot. Or the gun jams. Or the teacher freezes up. Or they’re just a lousy shot.

Will the parents of the kids who were shot sue the school system or the individual teacher?

You can’t tell me if not every child made it out alive that parents wouldn’t sue.

Insurance, then taxpayers when the lawsuits happen - and they will.

Sorry, the teacher/police officer didn't shoot the student. He shot the ceiling, and either the ceiling or the bullet grazed the student.

Even so... This really doesn't seem like a good idea to shoot a loaded weapon into the ceiling in front of a bunch of high schoolers.

And if the teacher/police officer didn't KNOW it was loaded? That is a whole different ball of wax.

This is a horrible idea from every single angle. School shootings don't happen other places. Not because of well armed guards and staff, but because of GUN CONTROL.

Gun control? Let's not talk specific solutions ,... Moron. Are you worried about Banks, sporting events etc...

At a public school, teachers are public employees. As such, they’re entitled to qualified immunity. Basically, if they were performing their job (shooting at a shooter) and made a mistake, there’s no liability for it. And if there’s none for the teacher, there’s none for the school either unless you can show that the school knew it failed to adequately train the teacher and simply didn’t care.
