Yes, I told my kid, FFHS is probably the safest place you could be! But, these kids are already so overwhelmed with stress, anxiety, pressure..... adding, "someone wants to shoot me" to the list of worries (realistic or not) is just too much.
I think there is a benefit in being able to assess risk. The odds of something terrible happening at school are actually pretty slim to begin with but today the odds of something awful happening at FFHS are even lower than normal.
Yes but, emotions aren't rational. It's fear. She's 14. And kids *are* actually dying all around the country in these shootings so. Can't say I blame her for being irrational.
