Is there any update this morning?

There are SWAT teams and everything all over the school. How do they know when a threat is valid vs. buillshit?

It would make sense to theater Fairfax high school and shoot up another school. All the attention would be away from where the real crime is to be committed.

Why? Ryan is a very popular school board member. I think that is the main reason why it was addressed to him personally it has nothing to do with his anti gun views.

Yep, I had the same thought. I have two kids and one is in a different school. I wondered if there will be any police presence at the other school today.

I had a dream last night that there was a shooting at my son’s school today.

Yes, I told my kid, FFHS is probably the safest place you could be! But, these kids are already so overwhelmed with stress, anxiety, pressure..... adding, "someone wants to shoot me" to the list of worries (realistic or not) is just too much.

I think there is a benefit in being able to assess risk. The odds of something terrible happening at school are actually pretty slim to begin with but today the odds of something awful happening at FFHS are even lower than normal.

Yes but, emotions aren't rational. It's fear. She's 14. And kids *are* actually dying all around the country in these shootings so. Can't say I blame her for being irrational.

I think you have to know your kid and do what is best for your own child.

I was simply explaining how I would (and have) handled similar situations with my own kids. For them, I think they would be better off just going to school.

At the very least your kid would be tense and worried that something was going to go down. Seems stressful.
