You want to put your kid into a school that has some diversity. At such a young age, the academic part isn't as important as the social aspects of it. Plus, you want a good neighborhood that you feel comfortable in. Being in an area where there is alot of South Asian may or may not be a great thing. Don't isolate yourself more than you need to. Give up on the mentality of being too traditional. If you teach your kid consistently the respect and manners & it's language and culture you want, he get it.

OP from a parent whose DS was badly discriminated against in a HRCS, please avoid them at all cost, especially if you and your husband are both well educated foreign born immigrants not representing your countries. What I am saying had happened to several people but no one really cares about it. If you try to address it you will be dismissed.

Of course, I can't tell you what to do OP. You are in an extremely difficult position. Waldorf leaves a lot be desired academically. It sounds like private Montessori may be the next best option. I am not happy with either of your choices.
