Too many Bs can definitely hurt you at top schools unless there is something else (cool EC, stellar recs, interview etc). Even then there are a lot of kids with all of these. Grades matter, much more than SSATs.
[b] Which is is a crying shame for those of us with such kids-mine had 90 % composite and didn’t get in for middle school. Anonymous wrote:I'm a Potomac parent of an 8th grader. From what I've heard there is not much attrition with this class going into 9th grade. Two boys I know are headed off to boarding school. Decision dateline for us was 2/9 so the school should now know how many additional slots have opened up. This particular class has a great mix of kids - no one we know wants to leave - and the two headed off to boarding schools are following their dad's footsteps. Best of luck to all applying. Our kids are excited about welcoming new additions in 9th grade.
