I don't hate technology or anything but I really can't figure out why anyone WOULD buy an Amazon echo. I had a coworker who bought one of the very first devices and we could never figure out its usefulness.

The biggest concern is around privacy, as these devices are always listening and sending encrypted recordings to the cloud backend once an assumed keyword is heard. As recent issues with Google Home Mini have shown, it is possible for these devices to go haywire and send a lot more recordings to the backend than intended.

Users of these devices must also remember that someone who has your Google or Amazon account credentials can listen to your recording history.

In that case, take on the persona of Ron Swanson's ex wife Tammy (#1). By next week he'll be saying "You know, Echo if an efficient way to use audio visual devices" and "I think we should spend more time in the city. My wife is so smart and rational with her logic.

Strangely, it's not the government that bugs me the most. It's Google and some such, i.e. private corporations who make a crap load of money selling you data.
