Wait, you are saying 70 to 100% from feeder schools in the 2018-2019 entering class? What was it in 2017-2018?

The current 6th grade class is 62% feeder school. That's the only number I can provide, but it's the real number.

While it's true that GS relative rankings are within the state (and so an 8 in DC means something different than in VA), your claim regarding the highest scoring schools is ludicrous and unsupported by facts. Please go and look at the actual PARCC scores of DC's GS10 schools (all elementaries) and compare those to VA.

Seriously, Hardy is clearly a solid and improving MS. It was not always so, and there is some racial/SES prejudice against Hardy. I've noticed that a lot of people who slag on specific schools, or on DCPS in general, don't actually have recent experience with the school, and are relying on outdated reputations and secondhand opinions. Which is not to say that the schools are perfect, but that the opinions of people who don't have recent, firsthand experience should be taken with a grain of salt.

The Eaton families are not the same as Key, Mann and Hyde -- they started assuming they would be on track for Deal and a large majority of the families had traditionally gone to public schools -- they were not 'exploring all options' from the day then entered elementary.

Based on all reports (chancellor comments, open houses, etc), next year's Stoddert + Eaton students at Hardy will make up more than 50 percent of the class.

Just to note, both schools' current 5th grades are mix of IB/OOB. As PP points out also, that pattern is also changing. Within a year or two, the kids from from Stoddert will all be IB and also 75% of the Eaton class will be IB.

They have something to sell you, but they make it sound like they care about where your kid goes and that you should too. Hardy feeder kids outperform Deal feeder kids. There is no reason why they won't do well in Hardy with the great teachers they have.
Middle school is only 3 years and Hardy and Deal kids will meet up in Wilson. some make it sound like eternity. I rent and can move IB to Deal or anywhere. Moving nowhere.
DC is finishing up 5th grade and going to Hardy next year. I have asked him if his classmates were coming and he said yes, almost all.
I really don't mind if some of you don't want to send your kid to Hardy. You do your thing, we do ours. DC is not coming to Wilson and no, not bashing Wilson.

No. But I'm hoping the Hardy bashing will stop. Prices will stay the same because there is just more demand for SFH that available houses. Even adding SFH IB to Hardy is not enough SFH to go around. They really don't make more of them. However, at certain price point, people would rather move out to MC or VA and get a better house along with good schools. DC schools are fine and notable change in Wilson will be next unless they can fit more kids in it.
MD and VA people won't be bashing DC schools (top 20=high SES), but rather the huts one million buys us here.

Parent of a key 2017 student.

They graduated 35 or so kids.

I know of only 5 at hardy.


I don't have the numbers, but it's Stoddert that will send the most kids coming year. There are several reasons why Stoddert will lead the change and not Mann, Key, Hyde or Eaton. I do expect Eaton to be the 2nd contributor soon though. Specially once they get their school renovated. Mann will be 3rd even though there were many Key parents at Hardy's open house.
Others can come now or wait a little longer,it's up to them, I hope they don't miss the boat completely. You can come in 7th grade if you don't believe in the "change is coming" and want to wait it out. And yes, I have a crystal ball.
And no, I don't have a house to sell you all. If any, I need the prices to go down so I can afford a home.
