Andrew
James
OP here. These are the names on my list as well. I like James, but not Jim or Jimmy. Is there a way of preventing others from using nicknames?
Unless he decides at some point that he wants to go by Jim or Jimmy, I think he'll always be James. I commented above that I have a 5 year old Andrew. He goes by his full name. To my knowledge, not one person has ever called him Andy or Drew. For the most part, people will your child the name you/ he prefer. Starting around middle school/ high school, boys have a tendency to give one another nicknames. However, the nickname usually relates to their last name or is unrelated to their name at all.
Also, I know about 5 or 6 boys under 8 named James.
They all use their full names. I think that's more common with this generation. This also makes it more likely he'll be James and not Jimmy.
OP here. Thanks for your reply. I like Andrew a lot as well but not so much Andy or Drew. There is a Benjamin in my daughter’s daycare and I noticed that the parents always refer him by his full name but everyone calls him Ben.

I am Emily and this is my brother’s name.
Me too! But our sister's name is Lisa if that gives you any indication of our age!
Actually, no. What age group are you and your siblings?
