From 2009!! But here's my .02 as an in home day care provider (and as I write this I'm watching the kids sleep).... every 2 hours and as needed is sufficient. Changing every hour is excessive, not only for the environment but because it's impractical and $$$ for the poor parents.

Absurd, wasteful and horrible for the environment. Diapers these days are so absorbent that 2 hours is way more than I would do. My DD's only got diaper rash from poop. Never pee. Honestly, this sounds a bit OCD and as a parent I would be really frustrated if you changed my child this much. So wasteful and unnecessary.

See i anit never heard a daycare keep they blanket, and diapers, and wipe cause ima tell I'm not bringing him diaper every day when I jus brought them a whole bag,that day care going make me real mad,ima raise hell

My child is in daycare and I'm trying not to get mad,but I hope they not changing him every 2 hours because I don't change him like,they also keep his diapers and he better not every come home in with another diaper, cause I know his diaper,and I'm going get angry

I agree completely with this. Unless your child is uncomfortable, they will change her on a schedule, and change her immediately when they notice a poopy diaper. Changing more frequently isn't really necessary, because poop usually causes diaper rash, not wet diapers. When I started daycare, I was really concerned because I thought they might let her stay in a poopy diaper for a couple of hours, but they change poopy diapers right away.

I was this poster. I was not saying that what the OP was describing was criminal neglect! I was referring to the PP who said her DD got terrible diaper rash due to sitting in poopy diapers, and the day care refused to change her any more frequently. I had the same issue with my child who similarly got horrible diaper rash bc the day care changed on a schedule as well. Seriously, my ped said it was clearly the result of sitting in a poopy diaper and not changed. This is neglect.

Sitting in a wet diaper for 2 hours? Not neglect.

Some babies obviously can tell-one of mine cried every time he peed when he was small.

I would be horrified if someone was only changing my baby every 2 hours! This means if your kid poops then they are sitting in a poop diaper for 2 hours!

The daycare should accommodate your daughter's needs for more frequent diaper changes. Our daughter had a sort of toddler tummy where she had bm 3-4 times a day and at our old daycare in Bethesda the teachers refused to check her/change her more often than every two hours and several times she came back home screaming with a HORRIBLE diaper rash. We also regularly, like 3x a week, found that when we picked up daughter that she had a poopy diaper that looked like it had been like that for a long time. We brought this up with the director who was not sympathetic and claimed the diaper changes were being done according to their schedule. I pointed out that it's impossible to ask our 17 month old daughter to only poop according to her schedule.

We immediately left this daycare. At our new daycare they check our daughter every hour and we have not had a problem with diaper rash at all and have never picked her up to find a dirty diaper!
