The wall is a waste of time and money, the Korean DMZ is filled with mines, walls, barb wire, and heavily armed soldiers on both sides. People STILL get through it once every blue moon. A wall on the mexican border will not do anything.

The optics of shutting the government to grant amnesty to illegals will not sell well in much of America other than the left wing.

If Schumer withdrew the offer on the wall, then why shouldn't McConnell withdraw the offer to debate DACA to avoid a shitdown?

Why don't you tell McConnell your idea? He might even use it for his rationale for why there won't be a debate and vote on immigration in the next three weeks.

Because the Wall has nothing to do with DACA and offering up money is part of a negotiation, but the promise made was to debate and vote on DACA.

Oops...meant shutdown, but I suppose the first could apply too.

About as good as the optics of shutting down the government to get rid of obamacare, I reckon.

The optics of building the wall with US Taxpayer dollars is less popular than authorizing DACA.

The wall was the cornerstone of Trump's campaign from day one. He was elected in part from this promise. There are millions upon millions that think it is a good idea. His downside with his base is tremendous if he does not build it. He will.

That wasn’t his only promise, he also promised that such a wall would *not* be paid for by the American taxpayer and in fact would be paid for by Mexico.

Seriously, who wasn't expecting this? Even the Democrats are not that spineless, bless their hearts.

So when Ttump reneges, he's "jello," and when the Dema renege, they are congratulated for having a spine?

What did Schumer re-neg on? That was an offer for a different negotiation to avoid a shut-down. Once the the government closed, it all re-sets.

Basic negotiations.

Except that the money conceded during the cheeseburger meeting was real. Pass Graham-Durbin and get 2B+ for border security- it was a veto proof offer and Trump (or Miller or Kelly) torpedoed it.

Eh, half his base knows, or "knows", that the wall was only symbolic.
