Ever heard of the ancient Egyptians who built g-d pyramids without the use of wheels? Know nothing about the Carthaginians? Never been to Timbuktu? Never read any Chinua Achebe or listened to Malian music? I've got 3 words for you: Ali Farka Toure.

Africa's rich natural resources have been plundered for centuries by Europeans. If it was always a "shithole" continent, why did Europeans try to overrun it?

Ancient times have, sort of, passed. That's when Africans most likely peaked. At this point the turn into a shithole even the good things that have been created for them, such as South Africa.

Hmm as far as I can tell there at least a dozen Nobel laureates from the African continents but most importantly the measures by which you judge success shouldn't and isn't obligatory to everyone . I was beginning to wonder when this argument would surface , one man's achievement doesn't make it yours . Why are you trying to co-opt the works of others as if it were yours ? Holy crap, have you every studied history? You do realize that European Christians destroyed countless civilizations in their quest to colonize peoples in Africa, Asia, the Americas, and Australia? Every where they went, they introduced diseases and practices that often wiped out entire societies.

This is an ignorant post in that it ignores millennia of amazing achievements by African people. The post-colonial period has not been a stellar one for brown people, I will grant you. But their civilizations achieved greatness long before my ancestors did.
