This made me laugh. I'm sorry.

I am the wife but my hobbies are riding and caring for my horses, pets, reading, growing things (in the summer), preserving food, dinner parties (love cooking, he likes socializing), travel.

He likes running, reading, travel.

It's important to have things you care about outside kids -- especially if you want to be a good role model and encourage your children to have interests in life. I think a lot of millenials lack hobbies because their parents' hobby was helicoptering them.

There are very few men out there who derive any sort of worth from working as little as possible. On the other hand, there are many, many more examples of moderately attractive women who derive self worth from finding a rich man and working as little as possible.

Bird watching, sewing, embroidery, writing (I have two books in progress), reading, and watching schlocky historical series on TV.

But I couldn’t do any of this when I wasn’t raising kids and then managing the house with a DH who had ADD. He left to date other women right about the time the last kid headed to college. It freed me to pursue all my hobbies and dreams. Despite the fact that people tell me I’m very dateable, I want to take a year or two just for me, to finally do all the things/hobbies I’ve been hungering for years to do.

Lack of hobbies is a common problem amongst all my millennial peers, not just wives

My DH does not go to this forum, but I paint and sculpt. I have a fine arts degree, but work in IT sales. I use painting and sculpting as a way to relax.

Oh, and waking up and talking to me when I want quiet. In the morning, I do not handle listening well.
