I used to beg my parents to get a minivan. It would have meant that I didn't have to "ride the hump" in the middle of the backseat of the station wagon.

They never did. I love our Odyssey now.

I did. An Astrovan. It was HUGE inside compared to today's minivans, because there was no in-floor seat storage. Two full-sized benches -- my brother got one, and I got the other.

How tall are you? I am just under 5 ft., and the need to haul the baby bucket in and out of an SUV was what made me reject them out of hand. My 5'9" friend liked hers just fine.

It's only practical if you're a breeder with 3+ kids

Yes, the first time your kid opens the door into the car next to yours.

Nope. They hadn't been invented yet.

Minivans were around in the 80s and 90s. Their are definitely people who grew up riding in them who have kids now.

I was strictly speaking for myself. Chrysler minivans hit the market in 1984.

I've been driving a minivan since 2003. I hate driving cars and SUVs now. It's easy to push a button and open doors/trunk. It's easy for kids to climb in and out of. It drives well. And, my Toyota minivans have held up very well, while my friends' SUVs have had tons of issues.

Yes, OP, you will regret not getting one or not getting one sooner if you do get one.

In general, I hate driving... except, when I drive my minivan.

Nope, never. We drove compact to mid-sized sedans.

If you're even thinking of possibly having a third, you'll be much happier with the minivan.

+1

And honestly, I was a minivan hater until I drove one (as a rental on a trip with friends). Those things are awesome. So comfortable for everyone, so much space for cargo, such a nice ride. People with minivans all seem to love them. Stop worrying about being cool, and get the car that works best for you.

Sliding doors changed my life.
