OP I simply don't get why you don't warn him with a flower delivery or something that won't look like a bomb. I know you have his address, so why wouldn't you show him that courtesy? Worse, you want to embarass him with his family around? Even if your visit starts to melt his heart, his family will not be charmed and they will chill his up again. Please warn him at least!

If you had any empathy at all and put yourself in his place, you would realize what an absolutely awful idea this is.
