Dachshunds are small, but they don’t yap. They sound like big dogs when they bark. I would only own a small dog 25 pounds or less. They are cuter and easier to take care of. Cheaper too.
Dachshunds can be yappy. My aunt and uncle had really yappy ones (and like 5 of them so they would swarm you) when I was a kid and they terrified me. My in-laws always have one or two and some are yappy and others aren't.
I don't like any kind of spaniel--maybe I've just never met one that was well trained but they always seem too excitable and high strung.
