Dramatically out of date report for Brent in just two years. When NPR ran the story, only 9 or 10 kids from 4th had stayed at Brent for 5th. This year, 40 have stayed. Mary and SWS have experienced a similar phenomenon.

I just watched the SWS holiday concert. There are 20 kids in fifth vs. 40 in 4th.

In that case, at least, it has 100 percent to do with the middle school feeder pattern and zero percent to do with satisfaction with the school.

Aren't most of those 5th graders ib for Stuart Hobson?

Some are but a lot aren’t and many of the evacuees followed siblings at Latin. And some ha e gone private. And some have moved off the Hill.

Try Sela -- I am not sure how it is now that they are ranked Tier 1 but we got PK-3 space with no issue a couple of years back.
Great school and the benefit of a second language (Hebrew has the added benefit to have a different alphabet, writing right to left so a great benefit for the developing brains even if your kid never uses the language again!).
Only potential issue: the location does not work for everyone.

That's not a vote of confidence in Brent 5th and the Jefferson feeder pattern. It's because they didn't get into Basis or Latin for 5th. So, now they're going to try for DCI and Hardy for 6th. If they don't get lucky, it's private or move.

Move IB to Hardy.

I think it is a vote of confidence for 5th grade at Brent. My understanding is that is pretty solid already and getting better in terms of activities offered.

They could have gone to BASIS - which still goes through its wait list. So all we really know is the folks who stayed either tried to Latin and didn't get in, or were fine figuring it out for 6th.

Probably need to be IB for all 3 to get in as an English-dominant PK3.
