If you have that kind of money then you should offer to rent a house for everyone and let them share the bedrooms while you take the master. For 1000 night you can surely get a nice beach house at Hilton Head or OBX or Kiawah, etc.

I have a rich MIL who wants to take me away and you sound very knowledgeable about this price bracket since you always stay there?

For the record, you should not go as you sound like you aren't looking forward to it. Go away with your "actual friend" another time.

OP, I don't think you will have fun on this trip. Don't go, and treat your friend to a spa day or something later. Budget issue will come up on restaurants and activities too. If you were going with a close group of friends, I'd say go and suck it up for the company, but it doesn't sound like you know the other women on this trip, so you may be annoyed the whole trip.

Seriously? I think you shouldn't go. You sound like a rich, spoiled nightmare. If YOU want to upgrade and have money for such fancy hotels, then you offer to pay the difference for everybody. Just don't go if you have to "slum" it at 300$ per night.

She who has the most insane budget which is not normal and high-mantenance loses...because your expectations and your pouttiness about this are astonishing.

Sleeping in at a $300/night hotel seems just as good as getting up early with the kids at $1,000/night hotel.

Agreed. I can't afford $100 dinners every night. My parents are like OP. They stay in the Ritz next to my family's budget hotel. They also constantly whine about our $15pp dinners, but never offer to pay more. I have 2 in daycare and can't afford more.

+1. The lower budget does not extend to only the hotel. They will want to eat at lower priced restaurants, be more cognizant of the price of wine they order, not want as many spa treatments, shows, or activities as you would expect on a vacation

Seems like a sad way to go through life. I have friends who live radically different lifestyle from mine, but we can always compromise enough to have fun together.

The room is just the start. You’ll be turining your nose up at the Car rental, restaurants, etc. Just decline.

OP sounds like a wet blanket. I think she's looking for a reason to decline because she doesn't want to spend time with people she doesn't know and is using a flimsy excuse to back out.

I'd laugh in your face if you suggested $1000 / night for a hotel room on a girls' weekend.

How many people are going on this trip in all, OP? Is this 4 women? If so, what about getting a nice $1200/night 2 bedroom suite somewhere? Then you and the birthday girl can pay for most of it and just get venmo from the other two and don't tell them what the final bill is.

Just go and get your own room in the same hotel. You don't need to explain it. Just say "I will be getting my own room and not sharing."
