If they open it together there will be immediate fights about who gets to play. Open it together earlier and give separate games for Christmas

OP, that is a great choice. I can't imagine an 11 year old and a 5 year old having the same level of interest in video games regardless of how mature the 5 year old is. Playing call of Duty vs Mario Kart is totally different.

OP here. Thanks everyone for the suggestion. We’ve decided to give them the Xbox a few days before Christmas. I will have individual games for them to open Christmas day.

IF it’s a shared gift, they need to open it together. Frankly, I think the age difference makes this a really bad idea.

I can't imagine giving a child a gift on Christmas morning and then not allowing them to play with it. That's terrible!! I'd let the kid that was there play with it all day, then the other kid can play with it all day the next day.
