This. In our house, that's the regular bedroom, because it has a tv and the sick spouse may be up for much of the night. But it's really the sick spouse's choice (and how is this not everyone's answer?!?!?).

We have 9 month old twins who are not yet sleeping through the night reliably. You can't hear them from the guest room and the guest room is further away from where they sleep.

If you're sick and the twins wake up, kick your DH until he gets up and cares for them. I've done that to ensure fairness because my DH can sleep through a baby's cry. Sometimes I even feign ignorance "oh I kicked you awake when the baby was crying? Don't remember that at all!"

Umm yes. This is DH's preference to get his back rubbed while sick. He's currently sick now and I did that last night. We both sleep more soundly in the same bed. I can't remember a night that DH and I didn't share the same bed (although when we were first married my MIL tried to have us sleep in separate rooms still at her house! That was a NO in my book.)

Well spouse should be in whichever room is closer to the kids, or sick spouse should be closer to the bathroom.

If all other factors are equal, I think sick spouse should stay in their room because the sheets already have "sick person" on them, and the well person might be less likely to get sick if they move to a room with clean sheets.

Whichever spouse wants to be alone moves to the guest bedroom. Usually that's me, regardless of who is sick.

Sick spouse stays in MBR.

In our house we rarely have anything more than a cold. I think we both got the 24 hr bug 3 years ago.

So for colds, we both stay in the same room. Going to be exposed regardless. If one spouse is having difficulty sleeping , they go to the guest room. Recently I had a sinus infection and was majorly congested. One night DH went to the guest room because I was snoring!! Another night I went because I was tossing and turning all night and didn't want to wake him up.

Sick spouse gets first choice.

Sick spouse shouldn’t be dealing with the kids in the middle of the night because he’ll infect the kids and he also feels terrible

+1 isolate the sick spouse where they’re unlikely to be woken up and less likely to spread their germs. Even if you leave them in the master, you still have to go in to get ready, open drawers, touch various objects. All they need to do in the guest room is sleep and not leave their germs on multiple communal surfaces.

Also, we put my bed in the master and his bed in the guest, so no way I’m giving up my wonderful tempurpedic
