This does not make sense. Are you saying that only pool with enough kids for a full swim team should be open? There are lots of families who have a pool membership and do not want to be on the swim team.
Pools without strong membership often can't keep up the maintenance. Often pools without swim teams and other teams to encourage people to join have low membership. I don't know the membership of the pools near to this school. Their standing just doesn't ring out "neighborhood chock full of kids".
Commonwealth (the pool in the last division, is struggling to stay afloat financially). What you are missing is that Kings Park west has two other pools, Lakeview and Kings Ridge. Lakeview’s team is in a higher division.
You must have grown up in NOVA to be focused on NVSL pool rankings! I get it...I asked the same question when I moved here. But probably for the opposite reason..H and I are both shitty swimmers and wantwd our kids to swim on a non-competitive team.

This struck me as an odd data point to focus on for a school, but thinking about it there may be a few too many local pools (there are three community pools in the neighborhood that feeds into Laurel Ridge, PLUS a lot of people have family gym memberships at GMU and there's a swim team for kids that meets year round). In the summer it's sometimes a bummer when your family are members in one pool and your child's best friend from school belongs to another. But all the pools have been running in the 10+ years we've lived here.

There are swim clubs and swim teams, but it's not crazy around here (also Mason has a competitive team if one wants to pursue that).

What I love about living around here is that the DC area is such a type A, striver environment, but we have an oasis from the crazy. Other people want different things and that's great as well, though.
I totally agree. I'm done all the nonsense of highly rated schools, team, etc. It's too much around here. How about children getting a good basic education and having a normal childhood.
How is Robinson these days? It seemed like the school took a nose dive during the period when the former principal got caught up promoting shady land deals and had to file for bankruptcy. It's a shame he didn't focus on the school instead.
