Hence: Gillespie wins.
Lots of Dems are doing the same idiotic thing as last year. "Northam has warts/isn't perfect, so I won't vote for him."
Congrats-you just elected a republican who will let the idiots in the legislature do whatever they want.
My spouse and I voted for Virginia democrats for governor for decades. McAuliffe is as dirty as they come. Why the heck should we vote for Northam who has already shown he is owned by fellow democrats? We need new thinking on state immigration, public school status and results (get rid of current Virginia Department of Education who do nothing locality), reconsider DC METRO board and our incredible NoVA payments, reconsider Chesapeake Bay Water over regulation and our taxes to conform with same, reconsider Dominion Electric's monopoly on us, and frankly, Northern Virginia's overtaxing giving the rest of Virginia an undeserved tax break.

Handsmaid's Tale, here we come
Right. And that's why the local papers like the Sun Gazette have endorsed him. Don't spread histrionic lies.

This is not and never has been an issue. He was chair of the Virginia Republican Party in 2006. He's lived in Virginia as far back as I can remember. HE worked onnHill before that. And attended college here too. He left New Jersey decades ago and never looked back. He and his wife live near Mt. Vernon.

Hillary came into New York from another state. Any problem with that?
Didn’t realize she is now in the Virginia race.

Who knowa, PP. If Gillespie can think out of the box this proverbial nonsense between north and south Virginia might end. I for one, surely hope it does!
Seriously - what evidence have you ever seen that Gillespie is willing to consider (or capable of) "thinking out of the box?" At least Northam's likely to be harmless.
Gillespie is as capable of thinking out of the box for the future of Virginia as any of us. Plus he has a lot of political savvy behind him.

I don't think Gillespie will do anything to help the situation in Northern Virginia, though. If anything, his supporters are really counting on him to keep the money flowing from the blue parts of the state down south.
