Came back from a kids free vacation with DH and was extremely embarrassed by our pictures. Three and half weeks later I'm down 9 pounds and will keep going. I'm 5 ft 2 and now 144. I need to lose at least 20 more pounds, and I will do it. I no longer want to live like I was before.

I just got our photos back from our family shoot last weekend. I have a double chin and my thighs look huge. She tagged me on Facebook and I untagged myself. I was in the process of making dinner and immediately lost my appetite.

I couldn’t take a picture without it looking like I had three chins.

I have 30 lbs to lose, down 20 since April.

I feel like that first 20 came off from just being healthier but I am having to work a lot harder now to lose more.

Some days it feels worth it, other days I just want a bowl of candy or a glass or three of wine. I find it much harder to have self control / discipline in my 40s.

When my 9 yo said he was going to stop mentioning to DH and me when we are eating unhealthy food. He said we always talk about eating healthy and loosing weight but then order unhealthy things and get angry when he says something so he’s not going to anymore. This just happened. I feel really bad since we want to model healthy eating and we have both gained a lot of weight.

That sounds quite funny! But obviously mortifying when it happened. I had a button pop in an interview once. I think it was just badly made.

When my wife told me my being overweight/obese was a major impediment to our intimacy. I lost enough weight be within the ht/wt charts and found out that while it was a legitimate issue overall it was a lie.

The bras I bought in the spring are now too snug
Weight gain is one of the casualties of my divorce.

This thread is motivating me to get started on the weight loss.

How did you do the weight loss?

20-25 pounds. (I tend to go up and down a couple pounds from my goal weight) I'm also pretty short, so those 25 pounds made a big difference.

Feeling my thighs rub together when I woke up one morning and walked from my bed to the bathroom.

And yes, those vacation pictures never lie.

I’m one who gained 20 pounds after a year of cancer and 4 hospital stays. I just decided cancer had taken enough from me and I wouldn’t let 20 pounds up be my new normal. I went cold turkey. Lost 10 pounds the first 3 weeks. I’ve hit a plateau for several weeeks but still religious about cutting out all the crap and at least 30 minutes of exercise 6 days a week.

When I realized I could not walk up a flight of stairs and carry on a conversation at the same time (because I was out of breath and breaking out in a sweat).

Vacation pictures and pants never lie. Did it for me. Have lost 9 pounds in a month. 20 more to go. I’m motivated!
