I agree but I also blame the Sacklers after reading this. There is plenty to go around.

But yes, some doctors are incompetent, indifferent, or just plain crooks. They should have their licenses removed, but there's a culture where doctors will not criticize or police each other for even sheer malpractice. It's sick.

There is plenty of blame to go around. Big Pharma and the SAcklers, for sure. Doctors who are busy and would rather give a 30 day prescription for opiates post-surgery than a 5 day prescription and have to see the patient again. People who expect pain to go away with a pill rather than through physical therapy and hard work. Greedy doctors/businessmen who set up "pain clinics" in low-income areas. Yes, low-level drug dealers and their bosses (often from Mexico, particularly a certain region of Mexico). The FDA. The government for not cracking down.
