I don't think that's an accident. Trump has proven many, MANY times he has zero sympathy for blacks. He doesn't view them as equal persons.

I think we should all get way more outraged about endless war than we do about which platitudes are ok to use with respect to those dying in the endless wars.

That's makes it so much worse that he said that to a pregnant woman. News reports say she was livid and "cried for hours" after Trump's call. Why can't the leader of our country make a consolation call without screwing it up?

It's more than just a platitude, and no, it's not true that he knew that he would sign up to die in Niger.
Lol. So it's just the location of his death that is the issue?
Oh, you think it's funny? You're as heartless as Trump is.
Let me guess. You go to bed crying every night over each American soldier lost in battle.
In reality, my bet is you perform outrage at Trump's response and express your own heartache at these deaths because it makes you feel good about yourself. And for no other reason.
No, actually I'm a veteran. So GFY.
Then how do you not understand that death is a possibility when you sign up?
Nearly two weeks after Johnson was killed during in an ambush alongside three Green Berets, Trump called his pregnant wife Myeshia Johnson around Tuesday 4.45 p.m.
The two spoke on the phone for five minutes before she met her husband’s remains at Miami International Airport, draped herself over his casket and sobbed as their two children, ages 2 and 6, stood nearby.
President Trump reportedly called the widow of a U.S. soldier who was killed in Niger and said “he knew what he signed up for ...but when it happens it hurts anyway,” according to Florida Rep. Frederica Wilson.

We expect our president to display compassion when speaking to the family of service members that have paid the ultimate price.
There is absolutely no excuse for what that man said to the grieving widow.
None.
He should not be representing us as a grateful nation.

How do I not understand that death is a possibility when I sign up? Don't be so presumptuous.
Death is a possibility in any occupation. It's not pitched as a certainty when you sign up. If it was, nobody would sign up. Who would sign up to die young?

So if someone’s DH drives for Uber and gets killled in an accident, should we tell his widow he knew what he signed up for? Car accidents are so common.
If someone’s toddler shoots himself or his sibling, should we tell the grieving parents they knew what they signed up for at the funeral? We all know the stats on gun deaths.
Should we tell all the blue lives matter people to stop wasting their time because the officers knew what they’re signing up for?
Just because a person takes a risk doesn’t mean we have to say every true thought that pops into our heads when comforting the grieving family members left behind when the odds don’t work out for them. There’s a time and a place, and that time and place is most definitely not when the grieving pregnant widow is on her way to collect her husband’s remains.

There are a lot of things that are true that you wouldn't say to a widow burying her husband.
Seems fairly respectful to me. The idea is that the guy is so brave and patriotic that he knowingly accepted the risk to himself in order to serve his country.
